Treating Others with Gentleness and Graciousness

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
— James 1:19

Words spoken and decisions made in haste invariably leads one to regret. And responses that are hesitant and weak often fails to edify or render timely help. It is only when we submit to the guidance of God, rely on His ever-present help, and interact with others with gentleness, can we experience the warmth in human relations.

A ‘gentle’ person is one who listens and observes with humility, does not easily reproach, or pass judgement, and is able to respond to matters with compassion.  A ‘gentle’ person also does not hurt anyone or question God in a moment of anger.

People who rely on God can respond to ill intent and injustice with gentleness during difficult times because they deeply believe in God’s protection and care. Because they believe in God with gentleness, so they are made strong in God’s presence.

Such people, when interacting with others, will treat others with gentleness. They are keenly aware of their own shortcomings, readily admit their mistakes with humility and accept criticisms. They will also not allow themselves to become prideful and boastful because of their achievements.

Dear brothers and sisters, should you desire to become a gentle and joyful person, you will need to always equip yourself with God’s word, so that we may live out gentleness in difficult circumstances and enjoy the peace and joy in the Lord!
