Phase 2: Resumption of Church Services 解封期第二阶段

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Praise God that Singapore has officially entered phase 2 of the nation’s re-opening and religious services of up to 50 people will be able to resume with stringent safe management measures in place as announced by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) today (June 19).

With this allowance, we are planning to resume some of our on-site activities like on-site service and children Sunday school. While all of us are excited to come back to church, we will have to prioritize the groups who can attend our Sunday service on-site due to the limited number of attendees allowed. Our immediate considerations would be for members who have no access to our online service steam and family with children. You will be informed by your pastor directly if you are eligible to come back for service.

We are formulating a detailed reopening plan and it will be shared with you soon but meanwhile, we have extracted highlights from the MCCY guidelines for your understanding.

  • Online streaming will still be available.

  • Only up to 50 members may attend the on-site service.

  • Attendance is strictly by invitation only. Our pastors will reach out to you directly if you are invited to attend the on-site service. Members who show up without invitation will have to be turned away. Please consult your pastors if you are unsure.

  • Keep a 1m distance from each other

  • Sunday service will strictly be kept within 1 hour. All members must leave immediately after service.

  • There will be no reception or mingling before, during, or after the service.

  • Everyone must always wear a face mask. The preacher and interpreter may wear a face shield. Children below 12 and those with health conditions that may result in breathing or other medical difficulties when wearing a mask may also wear a face shield.

  • No singing allowed. Our musical worship segment will be pre-recorded and played during the service. On-site members may stand in worship but not allowed to sing out loud as singing is considered a higher risk activity as it could potentially release a large amount of droplets.

We are studying the guidelines closely to make sure we are complying with the measures for your safety., and we are confident we will be able to cautiously resume on-site worship services for some of our members by the coming weekend.

While it is good news indeed, let us not take this liberty for granted. We continue to pray that the situation remains under control and that everyone plays our part to prevent a resurgence of this virus.

Love in Christ,

Daniel Xu
